MICK BOOGIE @ THE FIX®

yes yes. I cannot believe that I got two hugs from Spinderella. I am sure all of us have a memory now of being within the same couple of feet as a hiphop legend. Wow, I was so honored to go home and get a mac power cord for the one and only woman behind the Backspin. Anyways, it was great, but we have to keep it moving.

July 17 we have Mick Boogie on deck to wow the crowd.
Straight from the source ::

Mick Boogie has quickly become one of the America's most in-demand DJ talents, expanding his DJ brand to include A-list events in NYC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris and more.

Mick Boogie is known for his high-energy, eclectic DJ sets. Using hip hop and R&B as his foundation, he mixes in a diverse blend of rock, 80s classics, reggae, and 70s soul and disco, pleasing and energizing diverse crowds wherever he plays. As more and more celebrities come calling for his services, Mick can be found spinning at parties for celebrities such as Lebron James, Venus and Serena Williams, Jay-Z and more.

Additionally, his creative mixtapes with artists such as Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Nas, and Common are considered "classics" and are the talk of both the street and the "blogosphere."

So that's the edited version. You can check him out at mickboogie.com and at his myspace page. (http://www.myspace.com/mickboogie ... add that shit)

I was totally fuckin dead to the world. So fuckin sick. I had throat numbing spray in my pocket at THE FIX® and nasal spray in my pocket at Rockbox Dance Party. I have to say one of the best crowds attended Holocene this Saturday. They actually made me feel like I wasn't sick for the 50 minutes of my last set. So thanks guys for providing us with one of the best Rockboxes in recent history. I am not dead yet...

http://bangthechamp.com/

oh yeah I thought I would share this with all the people out there that read my blog. I have gotten many emails and actually a large amount of hate mail as well. The hate mail came because of all the negative posts I have done. The emails said I was crazy. I am definitely not crazy, especially because I watched this video. All 7 minutes of it will reveal to you the first truth of salvia. It's straight from the soource: Salviaguy69 or something. Sounds like someone who got caught on To Catch a Predator or even more so, some one with a profound understanding of our universe and the many species of beings that time and space contain.

I will go out on that note.

THE BATTLE WAGES FORTH.

I just found this.

That is pretty motivating. This morning it's hard to be motivated, because it's early and because things are looking bad for vinyl. SERATO vs. VINYL!
I am convinced that serato sounds very tinny. Sometimes you go out and hear a dj on serato and it sounds like a live stream from the internet; it's all dithered or something. Since I don't know any amazing dj's that have serato or have yet to have this conversation, I would just like to put that tin thing out there. What's up with that sound?

I was talking with Joee at More Better last weekend. {It was fun}. They are getting some dope dj's to drop in. Anyways, Joee was saying that some dj's would prefer to use cdj's because the sound quality is higher. It seems that perhaps the problem is the sound quality with serato. I would think it would be as easy as only playing mp3's that are 320 kbps and above but apparently some dj's don't have that in the head. I dunno? Or what my hopes are is that it's just serato that sucks.

Until someone puts a gun to my head I will play vinyl. It sounds better and I don't mind spending all my money on it. I have a huge collection and some pieces that I truly prize. Who cares about how heavy vinyl is. It's kind of like weight lifting. If you can't carry your regular crates, go and buy smaller ones. For me it keeps my arms toned and lookin fuckin awesome. ok not really.

Another point that was most likely not foreseen was that serato and free downloading would kill the record store culture. When I go to the record store I get something that I could never get online. Even as I type it's just that little letters you read on the screen. There are no people online. You can't smell the record store people breath or see cool art, etc, etc. That said when I go to the record store I talk to people. You run into your buddies. You bullshit about random stuff. You find out about more music! With that said you can't have that experience online. You can get the info. I check out blogs all the time. I like to stay contemporary don't get me wrong.
But you really miss out by staying at home. I don't have to go to the gym cuz I walk to the store and carry my records.

Record store aren't going away tomorrow. Used stores with be around forever. There's just something nice about going to the store and getting the newest vinyl. Then taking it home and getting your crates ready. Then you go to the gig and play the newest record, not the newest 192 kbps mp3. Don't you miss that feeling? Speaking of which it's even hard to do that. Distributors get vinyl to shops late. That is the one upside of mp3's, they are cheap. And I will rest my case there.

thanks for reading my novela!

Last Saturday I played at adidas Originals. I will be playing their again for first thursday! It should be cool. First Thursday of April, I heard, was well attended. So I expect it to be fun.

Also. Saturday is Various which we always look forward too.

And May 8th is DJ HOUSE SHOES @ THE FIX® amazing!

He's also got a free mix/podcast deal that you can download if you are into Hiphop. ???

dang cheap shows of years past

Hey I am just remembering when I was in high school. There were a lot of cheap hiphop shows that were 21 and over. Then when I turned 21 those shows seemed to disappear. Anyways, they are back and they are at THE FIX®. Those dudes and chick are working overtime to bring super tight dj's, mostly, to Portland. It really feels like something is happening! Tonight should be another example of the formula executed correctly.

Then Friday is ROCK BOX DANCE PARTY.

Just a really fun dance party! low duckets per head! aka 3 singles. It's just a simple formula. And it's kind of a show up have fun. And there aren't a ton of pictures. Why?
Because at good parties you were dancing too much and too wasted to keep your hands still enough to take a good photo.

Also, at THE FIX® April 24th Alphanumeric gets back in the street wear game officially. They are celebrating at Someday with us!
